The Berryessa Union School District has 10 elementary schools and 3 Middle Schools in the north east section of San Jose, CA
Vinci Park School serves over 700 students in grades K-5.  It is the school district's largest elementary school.
Vinci Park's 4th grade program for the 2004-05 school year will have an exciting curriculum that will help each student to maximize his or her potential.  We have an outsatnding, hardworking and very dedicated grade level staff.

Mrs. Lee Room 30
4/5 Combo
Mrs. Lee will be teaching the combined 4th and 5th grade class.  Mrs. Lee was one of the original 5th grade teachers here at Vinci Park.  Her students should expect to work hard to learn their very best.  Once again, Mrs. Lee will be in charge of the school's Safety Patrol.
She has taken on the major task of teaching the 4/5 combination class this year.

Mrs. Lee has 3 sons who attended the Berryessa schools, so she has the perspective of a teacher and a parent.

Mrs. Gutterman

Mrs. Gutterman is a veteran 4th grade teacher who has been an integral part of Vinci Park School for many years. her class learns a lot and has fun celebrating various ethnic holidays.

Mrs. Merritt

Mrs. Merritt has been teaching generations of students.  She knows just what students need to learn.  Our school is very fortunate to have Mrs. Merritt on our staff.

Mrs. Nakano
Our 4th graders are very fortunate to have Mrs. Nakano as their teacher this year.  Mrs. Nakano works hard to help all the students in her class and to help out her fellow teachers at every opportunity.  Check out her class page.
Mr. Goldberg  Room 21
Mr. Goldberg, now in his second year as a Vinci Park teacher is originally from New York.  He is very interested in using technology as part of the curriculum, as he has been a computer teacher before coming to Vinci Park.
Mrs. Amador
Title I Instructional Associate
Many of our 4th graders will be receiving special help from our veteran Title I Instructional Associate, Mrs. Amador, who is an integral part of our 4th grade team.

Our students are involved in different activities, which include ArtPath, Instrumental Music, and P.E.

We also enjoy a trip to Colombia Historical State Park--where students pan for gold, ride a stagecoach, and relive the past OR a trip to Mission San Juan Bautista.
Hands-on activities, encouraging creative thinking, learning self-respect and respect for others, appreciating cultural diversity, and taking pride in Vinci Park's cooperative spirit will lead to a happy and motivated student!!!
(Don't forget to eat a well-balance meal each and every day --remember 5-A-Day)

In the spring, our 4th and 5th graders will display what they have learned this year in Science.
Meeting the varying needs of students:Teachers do all they can to meet the wide range of needs of our students.  Examples of differentiated instruction include:
  • Title I assistance for students in Reading and/or Math
  • English Language Development differentiation for our students who are still in the process of learning English

  • Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program which seeks ways to challenge students who show exceptional cognitive ability in multiple intelligences.
