Sea Urchins

Sea urchins live deep underwater on the ocean floor as well as in some tidal salt marsh areas. They like to eat plankton and algae. The sea urchin's main predatory is the sea otter. The sea otter dives down and grabs the sea urchin and takes it to the surface. The otter hits the urchin with a rock until the urchin's body opens up and the sea otter digs in and eats. The only way a sea urchin resists its enemy is through its camouflage. Some sea otters are very smart and they can tell whether or not the sea urchin is hiding in camouflage. |
