Summary: A Japanese-American  family is unjustly taken from their homes in the San Francisco Bay Area after the attacks by Japan on the United States in World War II.

The main character, Ruri, is sad as she has to leave her friends and move to a temporary relocation camp at a horse track.  Before she leaves her home, her best friend, Laurie, gives her a bracelet to remember her by.

Focus: Conflict and Resolution .
