Introduction
This webquest is designed to
help students learn about the institution of slavery in America. Students
will learn about the history of slavery and how some of the effects of
slavery are still existant today.
Students will better understand the connection between the past and
the present and relate it to their own attitudes and actions, applied here
to racism.

The Task
The students will, in groups
of 3-4, or individually:

Research the slave trade
-
Understand the 3 passages of the
slave trade
-
Read and synthesise the first person
slave narratives
-
Keep a journal as this project
is done
-
Create a presentation based on
a chosen slave narrative based on the research and thereby transform
the information they've gathered into a product, specifically a Power Point
Presentation.

The Process
To learn about slavery, you and
your group will do the following activities:

First you'll be assigned to a team
of 3-5 students.

As a group, research the slave narratives briefly and choose one slave
character and sign up for that character with your teacher.

Once you've picked a role to play,
research the character indepth in your group.Create a storyboard and fill
in the information with the details you found in your research.

.Finally, create the Power Point and
be prepared to present it to the class.
