In 6th Grade Language Arts, we use Holt Language Arts

Our first reading selection of the year is Just Once .  This is a story about a boy who yearns to live out his dream of sports glory. The story helps us learn about plot elements and it focuses on setting and character.

In 6th Grade Social Studies, we are using the newly adopted Glencoe Social Studies text program, Discovering Our Past: Ancient Civilizations.  We will engage students in doing individual and group projects and we will be doing art and craft assignments for nearly every unit.

Students have shared with us their oral presentations, using a variety
 of materials to do so.  Some went high tech with a power point presentationfor their country.  Others did posters or display boards and one student even brought in products of his country to show the class.  Hopefully the students all learned about getting over their nervousness and presenting in public!
